Insight Installation

To install Insight on a Blinn College campus computer you must use Internet Explorer. Netscape will not work. If you are using Netscape, close and open this page in Internet Explorer. Please close all software programs on your PC prior to installing Insight.

*** If you use Transit, TREQ, SureCode, PAL, or Scribe, do not use this installer or it will remove the ability for you to run these programs. Contact Computing Services for assistance.

Click here to start Insight installation.

You will be required to enter your email username and email password to start the installer.

When the installer starts, you will be asked if you want to Run (or Open) the application or save it. Choose Run (or Open). A Windows XP computer will give a security warning about opening files that may harm your computer. It will ask if you really want to run the application. Click Run.

Next, confirm you want to install the software by selecting, Yes. The installation will begin and finish on its own. You will see the message "Setup Completed Successfully" near the middle of your screen. The update will then run automatically. The update box will appear near the top of your screen.

When all message boxes have closed and you see the original web page again the installation is complete.

If you have a Windows 2000 PC, you may get a message box telling you the PC will need to be restarted to finish the install. Click ok to continue, but contact Richard Hoffmann (x.4213) for assistance if you have problems completing the remainder of the instructions.

You should now have an Insight icon on your desktop. Double-click on the icon to open Insight.

Since this is the first time you are logging into Insight, you will be presented with a Bi-Tech System Catalog Connection window. Syscat Trinidad should be highlighted in that window. If not, highlight it and click Select. A logon screen will appear, and you will type in syscat for the logon ID and syscat for the password, and then click OK.

A Bi-Tech Connection Manager window will appear. Double-click on the ifasprod icon.

A window titled “Connect to ifasprod” will appear. Enter in the IFAS user name given to you by Computing Services or your supervisor, along with your IFAS password. Click Connect. You will then be logged onto Insight.

Following this initial logon to Insight on your PC, you will not have to go through the Bi-Tech System Catalog Connection window or the Bi-Tech Connection Manager window to logon.
